Easy Going Mexico CityMexico City is beautiful but chaotic. Mexico's capital city, nestled in a valley between volcanic hills, tends to get mixed reviews. While it may be a city with problems, it is most definitely a city with charms. Amidst the 20 million inhabitants, you may feel somewhat tiny, but we didn't feel unsafe at all; something which often worries prospective travellers to the city. There's so much to see during your trip to Mexico City: imposing colonial palaces and cathedrals, the frenzied traffic, the peaceful squares and green parks where old men on park benches discuss life and politics. "Ciudad de México Distrito Federal", or 'DF' as Mexico City is usually called, lies at a pleasant 2240m elevation. We've arranged accommodation for you in the Centro Historico. That way you'll be in the heart of the city and whichever direction you go you'll come across a park, a palace, a museum, a plaza, fountains, etc. If you want to go shopping and enjoy the local nightlife you could also stay in the Zona Rosa. After beginning your Mexico trip with our Mexico City travel made easy, we can definitely recommend trying colonial cultures overland with our Mexico City to Oaxaca tour. |

Easy going Mexico City: Zona Rosa HotelZona Rosa may sound a little dodgy, but it is in fact one of the trendiest nightlife districts and the gathering place of Mexico City's in-crowd. This lively district is totally different to the historic centre and offers plenty of entertainment with its many shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. |

The Museo d'Antropologia should definitely be on your agenda during your Mexico City trip. The museum has a spectacular collection of artefacts from all the different cultures of Mexico. The ruins and ancient cities you'll visit further on in your Mexico trip will have a lot more meaning once you've visited this museum and learnt more about the history and background of these places and the people that once lived there. Next door to the museum, you'll find the Bosque de Chapultepec, the biggest park in Mexico City. A walk through this park is a pleasant way to mix in some nature and fresh air along with with all your other cultural activities. During your Mexico trip, you can even rent a rowing boat- not something you'd expect in such a huge metropol. |

The pyramids of Teotihuacan are an hour's drive from Mexico City and you should plan about half a day for a visit. Once the largest city of the Aztecs, the site was probably the birthplace of what is now Mexico City. The complex is dominated by two colossal pyramids, of which the Piramide del Sol is the highest (surpassed only by the Cheops in Egypt), but the Piramide de la Luna is the most beautiful. You can climb the Pyramid of the Sun to get a beautiful view across the city and the Pyramid of the Moon. Although it's a gruelling and strenuous climb, once you've reached the top, you can take in the panoramic view of the temple of Quetzalcóatl, the Avenue of the Dead and the Pyramid of the Moon. With the green hills in the background and huge, colourful butterflies fluttering around you, this is a great way to end your Mexico City travel experience. |
