Mexico accommodation - Hotels with local character

Mexico accommodation

For your accommodation in Mexico, Mexico Travel Plan uses a hand-picked, eclectic selection of authentic, comfortable hotels. We offer mainly family-run hotels, forest or beach cabañas, posadas and haciendas. The variety of accommodation in Mexico means that your hotel isn't just a bed for the night, it's also part of your Mexico experience.

When choosing your accommodation in Mexico we steer clear of international chains, as we prefer to use properties with local character and warmth. We personally ensure that each property has the right combination of features such as cleanliness, location, friendly staff, good service, and local character. Of course, we always maintain a good value for money. Our accommodation in Mexico is reviewed regularly, and we can certainly vouch for their quality.

These properties are often fairly small, with only a handful of rooms, so we don't name the hotels in advance of booking. We use a pool of accommodation in Mexico, each destination has different hotels, which means that if one hotel is full, we are able to offer another of equal standard. We don't name them purely because we do not know which of these will be available at the moment of booking, and we do not like to fix customer expectations on one particular hotel. Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you a comprehensive list with names of all of your accommodation in Mexico.

Mexico accommodation - Comfort levels

Mexico Travel Plan uses a 'rating' from 1 - 5 for our Mexico accommodation.

The majority of our Mexican accommodation falls into the medium-class category and is centrally located, which is pretty important if you're travelling by bus and don't always have additional transport. Medium-class means good, comfortable accommodation with private bathroom facilities but without any extra frills. Rooms always have a shower, toilet and fan or a/c. Most places have a (small) pool.

Sometimes your Mexican accommodation may be more basic, for example a jungle lodge or a beach cabaña, other times you'll be able to enjoy a little more luxury.

If you'd prefer to stay somewhere a bit more upscale with a bit more luxury (category 4 accommodation), for example at the beginning or end of your trip, you can mention this on your quote request form and we'll make the changes in your accommodation in Mexico where necessary.

Spacious bungalow or room with plenty of luxury, big bathroom, a pool and extra facilities. We only use these hotels if they really have an added value for example because of their location.

If you want to round off your adventurous trip with a week luxury accommodation in Mexico, we can book an all-inclusive stay for you. We've visited several of the all-inclusive hotels along the Riviera Mayan and selected two at both Playa and Tulum which offer a unique atmosphere and don't feel too industrial (like many of the all-inclusive resorts).
